Gunther’s Restaurant & Catering
This past July I made a surprise visit to my brother in California. Not only was it a wonderful surprise to see each other, but also a very pleasant surprise for me to eat at one of his favorite restaurants, Gunther’s, at 1601 Meridian Avenue San Jose California 95125. 408-226-9022. They also offer catering.
As we walked into the place, the feeling took me back as a child in New Jersey. It is a cross between home style, diner, and cafeteria.
For being at the same location since 1971, it is amazingly clean. We were greeted with open arms by “Ruth”, Gunther’s sister, and all the home made food behind the glass cases. It wasn’t hard to pick, I wanted it all! But I have to tell you, I am a sandwich gal, and always looking for a good grilled Rubin. Wait till you see the meats and cheeses, only the best.
Not only did I eat lunch, Gunther invited me back for breakfast. Again we were greeted with open arms by Gunther, and the very hospitable Tracy to take care of us. She has been with them for 11 years and says it is the best place to work, they are like a big family.
