Actress onboard with NO makeup: Isabella Rossellini

Having celebrities on the aircraft is not a new thing and yet that never fails to make it at least a little exciting. People like Good Morning America‘s Robin Roberts, Country Singer/Actor, Billie Ray Cyrus, even celebrities like Oprah are not an unusual site since they too need to travel to get from coast to coast.
Yesterday, I had the unbelievable honor of having Italian born Isabella Rossellini sitting right in my first class cabin! Not a “Spring Hoopeo” anymore, there is no one than can argue her beauty even as she traveled sans makeup. (The Hoope bird is called the jewel of the Italian birds, which is why I chose that one instead of the US “spring chicken”)
Born to Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman and Italian director Robert Rosselini, she suffered great pain through medical issues surrounding her spine only to overcome them and become a famous model, Lancome´ spokeswoman, actress, writer and activist. Constantly overcoming my own health issues, she is a woman after my own heart and I admire her greatly.
I admit that the gate agent did come down prior to boarding, grinning from ear to ear like a school girl, to tell me that Isabella Rosselini would be the 4th passenger coming down as if I wouldn’t have recognized her. Or, would I? Dressed simply in an Asian inspired white suit, beige linen blouse overlay, very sensible New Balance sneakers and…gasp…NO MAKE-UP, she was not noticed by quite a few people! She is a master. Personally, I think that I look terrible without mascara and a little color on my lips. I dare anyone to try and find a single flaw with this lady in your trash selling “Actresses with out their make-up” issues.
I was a little disappointed that I could not serve her anything. She just wanted to sit and read her book although she was very kind and offered a sincere, No thank you. Not rude to me in any way. I did get to speak with Ms. Rossellini later in the flight when she asked about her connection since our flight was late. Unfortunately, the airports no longer give us gate information since they change so often. As a aside note, do not trust any gate information until you see it with your own eyes or hear it at the airport close to the time of departure. They change as needed.
Since I knew where she was going though, I called the automated line on my cell when we landed to find out her updated information. Luckily this time, the next flight was late also. She seemed grateful and surprised that I would do that for her. Of course, this is something that I do for all of my passengers if they need me to. It was a bit more exciting due to who she was though.
