Airline Medallion Members: What is going overboard?
April 6th, 2010 by Nearly The Bionic Woman
The other day while waiting for a flight back to Cincinnati, a man and his son walked quickly up to the gate. Although attempting to stay reserved, the man began to lose his cool and was practically yelling at this unfortunate gate agent. As his voice got louder I could hear what the problem was. Apparently, he was a platinum medallion member with Delta and was “only across the hall in the Crown Room” and yet they gave away his seats [after repeated final calls]. The man kept repeating “you have a problem, YOU have a real problem”. Personally, I think HE has the problem if he made it to platinum status and can’t tell time.
In the man’s defense, the boarding announcements are not heard in the Crown Room. In the gate agents defense, she is not his mother. Could she have called him to find out where he was?
What or who do you think is to blame here and what should be done about it? I would love to have your thoughts to pass on to the appropriate department.
